Heritage Newham – People, Places, Progress is taking part in the 11-day event and is organising a number of events.
The council said : “Newham Heritage Week also offers an opportunity to support and promote local groups, organisations and individuals with heritage related projects, activities and events, helping to foster community cohesion and help people understand, appreciate and be proud of the neighbourhood they live in.”
Though there are key themes this year any element of Newham’s heritage can be considered for involvement.
“Last year was the second year of this project and a total of 73 activities took place during Newham Heritage Week, at 26 venues across the borough (an increase on 2016 of 19 activities and 1 venue). Twenty five separate groups and organisations were involved in delivering activities and events. Many of these were delivered by motivated heritage enthusiasts who gave up their time to help support and enhance the project. “
