Candidates make their pledges over history and heritage

Two of the five candidates in the Newham Mayoral Election outlined their plans and passion for preserving and protecting the borough’s history and heritage.
Liberal Democrat candidate Gareth Benjamin Evans and Conservative Rahima Khan attended the quarterly open meeting of the Heritage Newham – People, Places, Progressthis evening at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park in Canning Town.
The group thanked them for coming to the meeting and were pleased to hear their views on future plans. Both said how important they viewed our heritage, particularly relating to young people. All five candidates were invited to attend,
Heritage Newham outlined its own programme of work for the next year. We also discussed plans for junior heritage initiatives and Newham Heritage Week, to take place in partnership with the council, in November.
A member exchange also took place and a social media update was also given, outlining the group’s work with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and on our own website.
