The Heritage Newham group (People, Places and Progress) is proud to launch its own website today.
We already enjoy brilliant engagement with our Facebook Page, which has been running since we launched our group two years ago, writes Colin Grainger.
We began life thanks to our founder Kevin Jenkins who quickly gathered together individuals and organisations who have a passion for Newham’s history and heritage.
Our meetings are usually held at the Terence Brown Arc In The Park in Canning Town and details of those are published on the Facebook Page at https://www.facebook.com/HeritageNewham/
We started life as the the Museum for Newham campaign but earlier this year changed our name to reflect more of what we are about as we move forward to protect, preserve, expand and enjoy the borough’s remarkable heritage and history.
The Facebook Page has already become an online archive with thousands of images posted on there since we launched.
We have also staged two Heritage Festivals in 2016 and last year and plans are already under way for what we can achieve this year.
None of this would be possible without the passion of the groups and individuals who make up our campaign. We currently have no funding, so everything we do – we do it for you, as the song says.
We also have a Twitter account under our full name, which is at https://twitter.com/heritage_newham
And there’s also Instagram which is at https://www.instagram.com/newhamheritage/
So come and join us as we celebrate Newham’s fantastic history, which has been part of life for the last 53 years and that of the former East Ham and West Ham areas which came together to form Newham.
The Heritage Newham group (People, Places, Progress) has been set up to preserve, protect and promote Newham’s Heritage and History, with purpose and passion. For more details contact Kevin Jenkins on 07860 487727 or Colin Grainger on 07572 545491
